Linda Ronstadt is a former singer who performed and recorded superhit country, light opera, and Latin and rock music. Ronstadt has won 10 Grammy awards and multiple platinum awards during her career and her albums have sold 100 million copies worldwide. She has released over 30 studio albums including number 1 albums on the US Billboard Pop Album Chart.
Linda Ronstadt started her music career with the Stone Poneys in 1967. After the success with the band she started her solo journey with her first solo album, “Hand Sown … Home Grown”, in 1969. And after a year she released another solo album “Silk Purse”, which earned her first Grammy Nomination. In 1974 she released her fifth solo studio album “Heart Like a Wheel” which earned her the first Grammy Award. And after that she continued topping the charts. Throughout the 1970s, she performed in various concerts in America and England. Author Andrew Greeley, in his book “God in Popular Culture”, described Ronstadt as “the most successful and certainly the most durable and most gifted woman Rock singer of her era.” Ronstadt was diagnosed a rare condition called progressive supranuclear palsy, which prevented her from singing. She published her autobiography “Simple Dreams: A Musical Memoir” in 2013.
