Angelina Jolie is a multiple Award-winning, highest-paid actress, filmmaker, and humanitarian. She is the daughter of actor Jon Voight and actress, Marcheline Bertrand. At age eleven, she began studying at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute, where she also appeared in several stage productions. Jolie started her professional career as a fashion model at the age of 16 and appeared in many music videos and ads. She was named as the world’s sexiest woman in Swedish magazine Café.
Jolie made her screen debut as a child alongside her father, Jon Voight, in “Lookin’ to Get Out” in 1982. She got her first leading role in the film ‘Hackers’ in 1995. During the filming of ‘Hackers,’ she met her first husband, Jonny Lee Miller. Her first two films failed to find an audience, however, she won Golden Globe Award for her portrayal of the wife of Alabama’s segregationist governor in the television movie “George Wallace”. The following year Jolie portrayed the story of supermodel Gia Carangi in the movie ‘Gia’. Her career-changing role came in 1999 when she was cast opposite to Denel Washington in the movie “The Bone Collector”. The same year she got another major role in “Girl, Interrupted”. In 1999 Jolie appeared in the comedy-drama film ‘Pushing Tin’ with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, where she fell in love with Bob Thornton and the couple got married after a year.
In the 2000s Angelina appeared in some of the best super hit movies of the 20th century including ‘Gone in sixty seconds (2000)’, ‘Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005)’, ‘The Good Shepherd (2006)’ and many more. During the filming of ‘Lara Croft: Tomb Raider’, Jolie witnessed the culture and poverty of Cambodia. She considered this an eye-opening experience, and so began the humanitarian chapter of her life. Jolie was made an official citizen of Cambodia by the King for her ongoing efforts to help the environment there.
