Alyssa Milano was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1972. Her path into acting started in the most unexpected way — her babysitter took her to an audition for a touring production of the musical Annie without telling her parents. Milano was just seven years old, and she landed a role as one of the orphans on the spot.

In 1984, Milano landed the role that made her famous. She was cast as Samantha Micelli on the hit sitcom Who’s the Boss? — the daughter of Tony Danza’s character, a former baseball player who becomes a live-in housekeeper for a divorced advertising executive and her family.
Who’s the Boss? ran for eight seasons and turned Milano into a household name. She became a teen idol throughout the 1980s, appearing regularly in teen magazines and becoming a recognizable face across the United States.
