William Gedney's Street Portraits of People in the Crowd in Brooklyn, NYC, 1967

William Gedney was a talented photographer. His photographs documented post-war life in America in intimate detail. Duke University’s Rare Book and Manuscript Library houses thousands of his pictures of Americans.

Gedney was in the middle of the crowd in Brooklyn, New York, in 1967. A few people noticed him. Most didn’t. Most of them are women. It may have more to do with the era than Gedney’s eye.
