Twiggy was a cultural icon and an essential teenage model in London during the swinging ’60s. She is known for her thin build and androgynous appearance, which was attributed to her big eyes, long eyelashes, and short hair. The Daily Express named her “The Face of 1966” and voted her British Woman of the Year.
Twiggy modeled in France, Japan, and the US by 1967 and appeared on the covers of Vogue and The Tatler. Her fame had spread around the world. Photographer Ron Burton took these fabulous photos of Twiggy for The Mirror and Herald in London in October 1966.
