Film director, Frank Darabont purchased the film rights to King’s story in 1987, but development did not begin until five years later when he wrote the script over an eight-week period.
The film was released in 1994 by the Columbia Pictures and when the movie was released it barely made any success in the box office. The film gained a reputation and earned the audience years later. The audience understood the film a little later and turned into a sort of phenomenon. It is one of the few movies that are truly timeless, heartbreaking, deceptive, and giving hope to survive in the most deplorable conditions.
