Fascinating Historical Photos of Tacoma, WA in 1910

Tacoma boomed in the 1900s and 1910s. Several railroads built transcontinental connections to Commencement Bay, including the Great Northern Railway, Union Pacific Railroad, and Milwaukee Road. The Northern Pacific and the Union Pacific competed to build Union Station in 1912. There was a conflict between Tacoma and Northern Pacific and their subsidiary, the Tacoma Land Company. The railroad and its officers-controlled land sales and development, particularly on the waterfront.

During World War I, the region’s lumber produced shipyards on the tideflats and more residents moved into town amid an industrial boom. The United States Army built Camp Lewis on 70,000 acres of Tacoma voters bought on the Nisqually plain.

Let’s look back at Tacoma in the year 1910 through fabulous historical photos. Also check, fabulous historical photos of Tacoma from 1911 to 1920.
