Pier Angeli was a television and film actress from Italy. She was born Anna Maria Pierangeli, and at the beginning of her career, she adopted her surname and split it in half. Pier started her acting career at the age of sixteen with an Italian film “The Million Dollar Nickel. ” After that, she worked in several movies with minimal roles. She made her debut into Hollywood in 1951 with the movie “Teresa,” and she won the New Star of the Year–Actress Golden Globe award. She remained active in the 1960s and worked in a handful of movies. In 1971 Pier made her final appearance on the screen and retired from her acting career.
Pier Angeli’s affairs and marriage
During the filming of “The Story Of Three Loves” in 1953, Angeli fell in love with co-star Kirk Douglas; she was also engaged with actor Kirk Douglas in 1953. After breaking with Douglas, she began a brief affair with James Dean. However, Angeli only married singer and actor Vic Damone from 1954 to 1958. In 1962, she married Italian composer Armando Trovajoli and sported after seven years.
Pier Angeli’s death
In 1971, Pier Angeli was found dead in her home at Beverly Hills. The official cause of her death, according to the reports, was barbiturate overdose. She was only 39 years old. Her body was taken to Europe and she was buried at the Cimetière des Bulvis in Rueil-Malmaison, Hauts-de-Seine, France.
