These amazing historical photos show New York City in 1905. It was the time when the city has entered the period of historic growth and economic boom. That was a result of the tremendous economic growth which continued for several decades before.

The construction of high-rise buildings, large and beautiful parks and squares, unique mansions, and other spectacular architecture changed the shape of the city. But there was another layer under this golden city surface. It consisted of immigrants, tenements, and sweatshops, which lived in parallel with life-celebrating wealthy city elite. However, both of these classes contributed to the bright future of New York City.
