Monique Chevalier was a French Fashion model. She was born as Monique Graebener in Germany, in 1937, and educated in England and Switzerland. Chevalier began her professional career in the 1950s as a teenage model, working with the likes of Regina Relang, Georges Saad, and Philippe Pottier; even then, every picture she took came stamped with an imperiously confident gaze.
She moved to New York City and signed with the Ford Agency, switched surname to Lefebvre and then Chevalier, and became one of the city’s most popular models. Over the following decade, she continued to work on both sides of the Atlantic, with Irving Penn, Karen Radkai, Richard Rutledge, and many others.
Here below are some stunning fashion portraits of Monique Chevalier from the 1950s and 1960s.
