Marilyn Monroe was a good humanitarian, as soon as her finical situation improved, she began to show her generous side. Monroe donated and helped a lot of charities during her career. Monroe had a rough childhood; she was born in a poor Midwestern family. Her parents separated and she spent her childhood in foster homes. When she became a worldwide sensation and cultural icon, she never forgot her childhood and donated a lot to children’s welfare charities. She also worked with WAIF, an organization that placed abandoned children in homes.
In 1955, Monroe appeared at the premiere night of the Ringling Bros, Barnum & Bailey Circus at Madison Square Garden. She dressed as a beautiful showgirl and rode on a pink elephant.
