Mamie Van Doren is a former actress, fashion model, and singer, known for her blonde hair, striking good looks, and provocative styles. She took her stage name ‘Mamie’ from the First Lady Mamie Eisenhower. She won the titles Miss Eight Ball and Miss Palm Springs at the age of 18. Along with fellow blonde bombshells Marilyn Monroe and Jayne Mansfield, she was known as one of ‘The Three M’s’. Most of her outfits in movies consisted of sweaters, low-cut blouses, form-fitting dresses, and swimsuits that were too bold for the era. After Marilyn Monroe’s suicide and Jayne Mansfield’s fatal car crash, she is the only one of the ‘Three Ms’ still living.
Modeling career
She began her professional career by working as an usher at ‘Pantages Theatre’ when she was just fifteen, and the following year, she got a small role in a TV series. In 1947, she sang with ‘Ted Fio Rito’s ‘band and participated in several beauty pageants. Van Doren posed for several magazines and was featured on covers many times. She also posed for the famous painter of “pin-up girls” Alberto Vargas, who was associated with the glamorous ‘Vargas Girls.’ In 2006, she posed for ‘Vanity Fair’ with Pamela Anderson, as part of its annual Hollywood issue.
Acting career
Van Doren made her acting debut with an uncredited role in the movie ‘Jet Pilot’, she just had a one-word dialogue, ‘Look!’ in the movie. During the 1950s, she performed in various movies including ‘Forbidden’, ‘The All American’, Yankee Pasha’, ‘Running Wild’ and many more. She was also starred in a series of B movies, sci-fi films, and cult movies during that time. Her notable role came in 1957 when she was starred as ‘Penny Lowe’ in the crime drama movie ‘Untamed Youth’. During the 1960s, Van Doren performed in several stage productions, including ‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes,’ ‘Dames at Sea,’ and ‘Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?’ The early 1970s saw her performing at nightclubs in Las Vegas. She also made guest appearances on TV shows such as ‘Jukebox Jury,’ ‘What’s My Line,’ and ‘The Bob Cummings Show.’

Van Doren has been married five times. In her autobiography, she has also admitted having affairs with a number of celebrities, including Jack Dempsey, Clint Eastwood, Burt Reynolds, Elvis Presley, Eddie Fisher, and many more.
She was first married to her lover Jack Newman at the age of 17. However, the marriage lasted only for a year and she started her career as a divorcee. Her second marriage was to bandleader, composer, and actor Ray Anthony They had one son, Perry Ray Anthony. The relationship with Anthony was bitter and cruel and eventually, they divorced after five years. She married her third husband, Lee Meyers in 1966 and divorced after two years.
During President Nixon’s re-election campaign, Van Doren met her fourth husband Ross McClintock. They got married in 1972 and the marriage was annulled after a year. After four unsuccessful attempts, Doren eventually married her fifth long-term husband, Thomas Dixon in 1979 and they are still married.
