These candid photographs of Madonna were captured in Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Madonna was dressed in a street fashion of ripped denim, lace, and layered jewelry, with a bare midriff. In November 2013, the photos were exhibited for the first time at Milk Gallery in Manhattan.
Richard Corman captured these photographs in May 1983. He was referred to Madonna by his mother who was casting Martin Scorsese’s The Last Temptation of Christ. Madonna had auditioned for the movie and Richard’s mother saw something special in the unknown Madonna that her son could capture on film with some modeling and audition shots.
