Fabulous Photos of the London’ East End from the 1950s-1980s by David Granick

While examining the Tower Hamlets Local History Library & Archives in 2017, photographer Chris Dorley-Brown discovered thousands of magnificent color slides that belonged to local East End photographer David Granick. His life was spent taking thousands of photographs of the area, which he used to illustrate his lectures about different local history themes. He was an active member of the East London History Society.

These evocative photos were taken between the late 1950s and 1980 when war was still affecting the area. In all, about 3,000 slides are dating from the 1950s. Dorley-Brown says

But they are in good condition. Many of them were unknown for half a century or more.
