Women Fashion Boutique who Hired Models as Living Mannequins on London's Carnaby Street, 1966

The Lady Jane fashion boutique was the first on Carnaby Street in London. Henry Moss and his partner Harry Fox opened the business in April 1966. Fox hired models to take part in a risqué publicity stunt in the boutique’s window on May 11, 1966. Diane James and Jina Baker became living mannequins by changing in the shop window for three days.

Three days of changing models in the shop window attracted crowds of potential customers and earned considerable shop publicity from the national press. Jayne Mansfield’s visit brought more attention.

Henry Moss Said:

Then I got arrested. I thought it was for indecency, although the girls were wearing underwear. I was tried at Gt. Marlborough Street Court and fined £2 for obstructing the highway.
