Leisure Suit: These Stunning Outfits Were All The Rage In The 70s Fashion For Men

A leisure suit consists of a shirt-like jacket and matching pants or trousers. Often, they are made from lightweight fabric and originally known as “Hollywood suits.” Originally, they were designed for casual occasions, and they came before the disco era. The more modern idea of the leisure suit dates back at least to the 1920s and 1930s as summer casual-wear for wealthy.

Following the 1920s, the fashion trends were shifted; flappers were introduced for women, and men started wearing loose-fitting suits that looked sort of like tailored sacks. Leisure suits were a significant departure from the older generation’s long coats, vests, and snazzy, striped trousers.

Leisure suits are still being worn today, although not in the form of bellbottoms and pastel colors, which came to be most associated with the term. The popularity of synthetic fabrics, such as polyester, has resulted in the creation of new textures. In the 1970s, the leisure suit manufactured by Lee Jeans — made it’s a very first appearance and rocked the fashion world.
