A celebrated American photographer, Slim Aarons (1916-2006), documented the leisurely lifestyle of the rich and famous in his captivating photographs of beguiling figures in luxurious settings. Aarons’ glamorous poolside photographs of effortlessly beautiful and wealthy people became an iconic series that allowed Aarons to shoot some of the most candid portraits of the 20th century. Slim Aarons captured these beautiful images in the 1960s while holidaymakers enjoyed their winter holidays at beautiful locations around Europe.
Aarons enlisted in the United States Army at age 18, worked as a photographer at the West Point military academy, and earned a Purple Heart as a combat photographer during World War II. Aarons moved to California after the war and began taking pictures of celebrities. He has been published in Life, Town & Country, and Holiday magazines. He has never used a stylist or makeup artist.
