Life of Hippies and Rebellious Youth of San Francisco in 1960s

In the 1970s, San Francisco was a veritable center of culture. William Gedney captured the spirit of the streets in these vintage photographs made in 1966 and 1967, including hippies, radicals, and everything in between. Gedney’s street photography depicts the eclectic community that outcasts and the socially marginalized formed in San Franciso due to its tolerance and multiculturalism.
