Fascinating Vintage Photos Show Helsinki in the 1960s

Helsinki is the capital and the lead seaport and industrial city of Finland. More than half of Finland’s total imports consequently pass through the port of Helsinki. It has one of the world’s highest urban standards of living. There are numerous museums, galleries, theatres, and many symphony orchestras in the city. Here are some fascinating vintage photos that show what Helsinki looked like in the 1960s.

During the 1960s, Helsinki was developed rapidly and transformed into a modern metropolitan city. A large influx of people moved to the city from rural areas. Helsinki quickly founded suburbs, such as Herttoniemi, Maunula, and Pihlajamäki.
