Samson and Delilah is a 1949 romantic biblical drama film starring Victor Mature and Hedy Lamarr. The story is about Samson, a strongman whose secret lies in his uncut hair and love for Delilah, the woman who seduces him, discovers his secret, and then betrays him to the Philistines. The film was incredibly violent for its time. Samson using a donkey jawbone to crush skulls like eggs through helmets is very brutal. Among the film’s special effects, the toppling of the temple of Dagon is the most impressive.
In the film, Hedy Lamarr played the role of the seductive temptress and conniving Courtesan. Her role was limited in the movie, but she portrayed a femme fatale character capable of bringing down a mighty warrior. She set the screen on fire as the sensual and wicked Delilah, who played with and dragged every man on the screen and in the audience in her wake. She wore gorgeous figure-revealing costumes that no woman in a million could pull.
