Parícutin Volcano is one of the beautiful geomorphic landscapes situated in the Mexican state of Michoacán. The Volcano emerged suddenly from a cornfield in 1943. The emerging of a volcano from virtually nowhere is one of the most beautiful wonders of nature. The name is derived from the Purepecha or Tarascan language, which means ‘to the other side.

Fifteen days before Volcano’s birth, high seismic activity and subterranean noise and tremors were noticed in the Sun Juan Parangaricutiro area. The eruption began on February 20, 1943, at about 4:00 PM local time. People near the site heard hissing sounds and smoke that smelled like rotten eggs, indicating hydrogen sulfide. Within hours, the fissure would develop into a small crater.
