Ella Raines was an actress and television personality who starred in several movies, dramas and comedy shows during the 1940s. She started her acting career with small plays and stage shows. Director Howard Hawks noticed her and signed a contract with his production company, and in 1943 Raines made her screen debut with Corvette K-225. She rose to fame with the role of Carol in “Phantom Lady. ” Raines also appeared in a television show, ”Janet Dean, R.N.” in 1953-54. She also appeared on the cover of Life magazine in February 1944. In the mid-1970s, she returned to her alma mater to teach drama at the University of Washington in Seattle.
Ella Raines married Kenneth William Trout in 1942, and the marriage lasted two years. In 1947 Raines married d fighter-pilot ace Robin Olds and the couple had three children. The couple separated in 1975 and divorced was finalized in 1976. Raines died in 1988 at the age of 67 from throat cancer in California.
