Élizabeth Teissier is a former model, actress, and French astrologer. A French television channel broadcast her daily horoscope on Antenne 2 in 1975. Additionally, she launched the Astro Show television program in Germany. Former French President François Mitterrand was one of her clients, and she has written several books on astrology.
Model and acting career
Teissier started her professional career with modeling, and she worked for famous French fashion designer Coco Chanel. Simultaneously, she also made her acting debut and worked in several French movies, including mainly soft erotic films. Her notable role was in Sydney Pollack’s comedy-drama ‘Castle Keep (1969)’. She worked in the film for nine years, from 1966 to 1975, and made her appearance in 12 movies.
Astrologist
In 1968, Elizabeth Teissier began studying astrology under the famous astrologer Henri Joseph Gouchon. Astrology has been the subject of several of her columns, her television appearances, and her arguments for its recognition. Several controversies have surrounded Teissier, including an award of a Doctorate in Sociology for her thesis arguing that astrology was being suppressed by science. Scientists criticized her work for lacking the scientific rigor necessary for a doctoral dissertation in any scientific field and failing to work within sociology.
Teissier says her predictions have a success rate of 80 to 90%. However, an experiment comparing her predictions with common sense and chance failed to show that she had any special powers. The university and jury who awarded Teissier his degree were heavily criticized, although he had his supporters and defenders.
In a September 2007 interview with the Swiss daily newspaper Le Matin, Teissier said, “In an astrological chart, you can find out if you are predisposed to cancer.”
