Stunning Photos of East and West Berlin in 1970

As the average age of city residents rises, the West Berlin Senate is looking to recruit young skilled workers from the Federal Republic. One-fifth of West Berliners were already over 65 in 1970. The Berlin Bonus aims to attract young people to the city.

On the other hand, East Berlin was a popular destination for young people. Students who studied here preferred to stay. While some people lost their lives escaping from East Berlin.
