The Bizarre and Beautiful Donut Queens from the 1940s and 1950s

The 1950s was a golden age for pageants. Many beauty contests grew out of the Miss America pageant. Several events were more significant politically and socially than others. The crowning of the National Doughnut Queen was less critical. Every beauty pageant contestant had one thing in common – the sincere desire to represent a community ideal and be chosen queen – or king, in some cases.

Here are some photographs of Donut Queens from between the 1940s and 1950s. The ladies struck an outstanding balance between wholesome and sexy while remaining classy, and they always had a bright smile.
