Here we see Debbie Harry wearing a neon-pink halo and a sequin-studded top in 1979, looking incredible. She was considered the queen of glamour and punk, with the two styles often intermingling. Smudged with electric-blue liner, her eyes were fixed on the camera.
Photographer Maureen Donaldson took these stunning photos right before Blondie’s released album ‘Eat to the Beat’. She shot them when the band was partying hard right before the album’s release.
Songwriter Mike Chapman wrote in the album’s sleeve notes.
The music was good, but the group was showing signs of wear and tear, the partying and the arguments had beaten us all up, and it was hard to have a positive attitude when the project was finally finished.
