These beautiful photos from the 1930s show couples posing with their cars. In contrast to the style-conscious luxury days of the 1920s, the 1930s saw a renewed emphasis on the mechanical qualities of vehicles. Most of the cars had footboards, sunshades on the windscreens, drum-shaped headlights, and rear lights attached to the car by rods. American cars appeared with rounded edges, the headlights were integrated into the chassis, and the driving comfort improved. In the 1930s, radiator grilles and shells were tilted back slightly, which gave the cars a sleeker look. Windscreens were made from cheap security glass. As for safety measures, low-pressure inner tube tires were introduced on American cars during the Thirties, as well as windscreen wipers.
