Beautiful Photos of Clara Bow from the Movie ‘Hula (1927)’

Hula, a Romance of Hawaii by Armine von Tempski is a 1927 American silent romantic comedy film directed by Victor Fleming. The film stars Clara Bow, Clive Brook, Arlette Marchal, and Albert Gran.

Hula Calhoun (Clara Bow) is the daughter of a Hawaiian plantation owner, Bill Calhoun (Albert Gran). Taking the advice of her uncle Edwin (Agostino Borgato), she leads a simple and natural life, far from the social conventions of her family, and is considered a “wild child” who wears pants and rides horses. Despite the courtship of Harry Dehan (Arnold Kent), Hula is more interested in Anthony Haldane (Clive Brook), the British engineer who’s working on her father’s property to construct a dam. Unfortunately, Haldane is already married. Haldane tries to keep his distance from Hula at a party, but she gets drunk and performs a seductive hula dance for him. She provokes him so much that he promises to get a divorce. Margaret (Patricia Dupont), Hula’s wife, appears, and he makes a deal with one of the foremen to blow up a point on the dam with dynamite. Mrs. Haldane, realizing that her husband is now ruined, agrees to the divorce, and the two lovers can finally get married.
