Chicago Night Clubs' Scene from the Mid-1970s by Michael Abramson

Michael Abramson, a photographer from Chicago’s north suburbs, traveled five nights a week from the South Side to nightlife hotspots like Perv’s House, Five Fingers Social Club, High Chaparral, and New Jazz Showcase Lounge in 1975 and 1977. Through telling but unsentimentalized gestures and gazes, he captured the energy and emotion of life dramas unfolding around him as they unfolded before his eyes.

You’re there to have fun… to forget whatever troubles or successes you might have; when you’re looking through the lens, you have a reason to wander all over the place.
