Photographer and Surgeon George Silas Duntley captured these stunning photographs of Bushnell and surrounding areas of Illinois in the early 20th century. His son restored these photographs from dry plate negatives.
George Duntley was a trained surgeon, and he removed his tonsils. He also worked as an eye surgeon in rural areas. Many of his patients were poor farmers who had a tough time paying for the skills. His son recalled, “they used to eat a lot of chicken.” Duntley also served as an officer in World War I.
