What Boca Raton looked like in the 1990s Through Fascinating Photos

The city of Boca Raton is located in Palm Beach County, Florida. The city is primarily a business center during the day. Located 45 miles north of Miami, Boca Raton is one of the major cities in the Miami metropolitan area. Mizner Park and Royal Palm Place, a mixed-use shopping, dining, and residential district, are the focal points of the downtown area.

Architecturally, many buildings in the city are inspired by Addison Mizner, a resort architect who influenced the city’s early growth. Today, Boca Raton maintains a strict development code regarding sizes, types, and placements of commercial buildings, building signs, and advertisements. A strict development code has caused several significant thoroughfares to lack large signs or advertisements.

Below are some fascinating photos that show Boca Raton in the 1990s. The new downtown shopping and dining center, Mizner Park, was completed over the old Boca Raton Mall site in 1991. In recent years, it has become a significant tourism destination.

  1. I was a ’90s kid growing up in Boca!

When I was growing up, the Boca Raton beach was dead as a door nail..

Today it’s a rocking scene with the FAU kids, the Lynn kids and who else over there.

Seems like there’s a lot of surfing.

When I was a kid I don’t think there was any surfing at all in Boca.

Have the waves changed due to global warming or some other phenomena?
