Now called “Central High School”
Actually, it has always been called Central High School since its founding in 1836 – the second oldest public high school in America and still an extraordinary educational institution. It was a boys only school until the 1980s when girls were first admitted, but it was never known as Boys High School. Pictured is the third Central High building. The school relocated to its fourth building, at Ogontz and Olney Avenues in the 1930s and is still there.
