This was a whole Victorian trend called spirit photography where you take pics in different angles and lighting to make it look like the deceased persons ghost is in the picture. It’s not real lol.

Folks died at home, and the family sat by her/his side, to check, if people woke up again.
Even during a funeral dude came as a ghost.
