Stunning Vintage Photos Show Life in Bainbridge, Georgia from 1961-1981

These stunning photos show life in Bainbridge, Decatur County of Georgia from 1961 to 1981. People working in tobacco fields, shops, factories, and fields. They also show supermarkets shoppers waiting in line, people waiting for buses at the Trailways station, families and spectators waiting for verdicts at the Decatur County Courthouse, and Mrs. Tomlinson in the house of tomatoes waiting for the Martian invasion.

Paul Kwilecki captured these photographs, he was a talented self-taught photographer. Kwilecki honed his craft by photographing the broad spectrum of daily life manifested in Bainbridge and the rural areas of Decatur County.

I’m not trying to make aesthetic images. I’m not in it as an artist…I’m interested in what is going on here. Said Kwilecki.
