Audrey Hepburn was photographed by Lawrence Fried while starring as Gigi in the Broadway production of the same name, New York City, 1951. It was part of a multi-day photoshoot for Esquire magazine.
Photographer Lawrence covered social, political, and artistic events of his time for magazines such as Look, Life, The New York Times, The Saturday Evening Post, Vogue, and Parade. During the 1950s and 1960s, he was the most successful photographer at the legendary New York Photo Agency, PIX, Inc. By the early 1970s, he was known for shooting the most significant number of Newsweek covers in magazine history.
