Stunning Portraits of American Office Workers from the early 1970s

During the 1970s, the formal dress code shifted within office wear, affecting how we dress for work. For example, men began wearing fewer suits for a more casual look known as “business casual”. In contrast, women changed their dress codes more as they traded dresses/skirts for pants. So, while dress codes were still in place within the office, they began to reflect the everyday fashion trends people were following.

During the early 1970s, a San Francisco Bay-based commercial photographer took these portraits of American office workers.
