Brooklyn Heights is an affluent residential neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York City that lies just one subway stop from Manhattan and at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. This area is known for its stunning architecture and its many brownstone rowhouses, most of them built before the Civil War. The streets are lined with lovingly restored row houses, thoughtfully curated stores, innovative restaurants, historic brownstones, mansions, and unique views of Lower Manhattan’s skyscrapers from the promenade. Brooklyn Heights gives the most wonderful view of Lower New York and the Statue of Liberty.
The completion of the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883 made the neighborhood more accessible from places such as Manhattan. The Heights’ huge mansions were torn down and replaced with apartment buildings.
