Sunnfjord is a wonderful traditional district in Western Norway. It is situated halfway between the major cities of Bergen and Ålesund, bordering the Sognefjord area in the south and Nordjord in the north. It is a beautiful landscape with spectacular waterfalls and beautiful mountains. Every year thousands of tourists visit the area and enjoy kayaking, rafting, hiking, and fishing.
Sunnfjord an area of about 4,476 square kilometers and has a population of about 8% of the population of Vestland county. The area was the site of the largest air battle over Norway during World War II, and a museum is dedicated to the event in Naustdal.
