Marla English was an actress and fashion model. She started her professional career at the age of 12 as a child model. During her high school years, Marla became a member of San Diego’s Globe Theatre, and she played roles in their productions of “Mad Woman of Chaillot” and “Cricket on the Hearth” while continuing her modeling career.
Her career-changing role came when she was cast opposite Spencer Tracy in “The Mountain” in 1956. The following year, Marla signed a contract with Paramount Pictures and she appeared in several movies with small roles. She also won the San Diego beauty pageant “Fairest of the Fair” in 1952. Marla also appeared in many B films throughout her career.
Marla English gave up her acting career in 1956 at the age of 21, when she became engaged to San Diego businessman A. Paul Sutherland. Marla died after a long battle with cancer at the age of 77 in Tucson, Arizona.
