Betty Marion White Ludden is the pioneer and icon of television; she is often regarded as the grandma of TV because of her longest career as a TV personality. She started her career by working in theater, on radio, and as a model. During WWII, she also joined American Women’s Voluntary Services, driving a PX truck during World War II. She has won six Emmy Awards and earned 18 Emmy nominations during her career. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside the star for her late husband, Allen Ludden. She launched her first TV series, “Life With Elizabeth,” in the 1950s with the help of George Tibbles. She married U.S. Army pilot Dick Barker in 1945. However, this marriage lasted only for six months. Her second marriage was to a Hollywood agent Lane Allen, which ended in divorce in 1949. In 1963 she married TV personality Allen Ludden, and they spent 18 years until Allen died from stomach cancer in 1981. Betty White is also a true animal enthusiast; she worked with several animal organizations and zoos. She also hosted a TV series, “The Pet Set,” which spotlighted celebrities and their pets.
