Life Story And Fabulous Photos Of Martha Hyer From Her Acting Career

Martha Hyer was a beautiful and classic Hollywood actress. She was born in Texas and her father and studied speech and drama at the Northwestern University in Illinois. Hyer started her career as a stage actress because she was rejected by both Paramount and 20th century Fox. Finally, in 1946 an RKO agent discovered her talent while she was working in the Pasadena Playhouse. Hyer made her screen debut with an uncredited role in “The Locket” in 1946. She also appeared in B-movies and some television shows, but her career did not reach its peak until the mid-1950s when she was starred in some of the famous super hit movies including “Some Came Running (1958)”, “The Best of Everything (1959)” and many more. She also worked as supporting actress in several TV shows and movies. Hyer made her final appearance on the screen in 1971 in “The Day of the Wolves”. At the age of 50, she retired from acting career and moved to Paris.

In 1951, Hyer met producer Ray Stahl during the filming of “Oriental Evil”, and they both fell in love with each other. The couple married soon and spent a year in Japan. The marriage lasted three years and ended in 1954. In 1966, Hyer married producer Hal B. Wallis, and they remained together until he died in 1986. She published her own autobiography ‘Finding My Way: A Hollywood Memoir’ in 1990. Martha Hyer died on May 31, 2014, at the age of 89 from natural causes.
