The magazine covered a variety of genres, with a focus on men’s adventure stories in its later years. It was published by Street & Smith and edited by Henry Harrison Lewis and Charles Agnew MacLean. The typical bi-monthly issue was between 194 to 224 pages long. In 1931, The Popular Magazine was combined with another Street & Smith publication, Complete Stories.
