Audrey Hepburn married Mel Ferrer on September 25, 1954, in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. The ceremony took place at the mountain base in a 13th-century Protestant church called Bürgenstock Chapel.
Ferrer and Hepburn co-starred in the 1953 play ‘Ondine’. He was an experienced actor, and years older than Hepburn. But they both had dance backgrounds and were multilingual. Their collaboration eventually turned into a real-life romance.
The bride wore a white organdie A-line wedding dress by Pierre Balmain with chiffon sleeves and a crown of white flowers in her hair. She accessorized with white opera gloves. After the vows, the couple left the chapel arm in arm and got into the waiting car.
