The North End is a neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1630, it is the oldest residential community in the city, where people have continuously lived since then. Despite its small size (0.36 square miles, 0.93 square kilometers), the neighborhood has nearly 100 establishments, various tourist attractions, and historic buildings. There are many Italian restaurants in the neighborhood. At the end of the 19th century, the North End was filled with small restaurants that served inexpensive meals. The area had 12 active Italian restaurants in 1909, and some of these were renowned by the 1930s. Today, there are many cafes, small grocery stores, and Italian restaurants in the North End. Both locals and tourists enjoy the restaurants in the North End.
