Over the years, many types of dolls were made from wood, fabric, wax, china, cloth, or leather. Due to their longevity and love, antique dolls more than a century old frequently need repairs for missing eyes, broken arms, cracked heads or accumulated fillings. Like many toys, dolls often received a lot of affection. Eventually, there were bumps, bruises, and broken parts due to hugs, kisses, and carriage rides. A wig falls out or is missing, the nose is chipped, the clothes are tattered, and the kid leather body may be leaking sand.
Back in the day, there were hospitals for dolls where people brought their dolls for repairs. The people did not have enough money to buy a new one. The children were attached to their dolls and preferred their old dolls over new ones.
